Why Bollywood Actors Love to Star on the Small Screen?

Bollywood stars today are no longer happy to just stay on the big screen. Many have also tried their luck on the small screen with great success. Besides acting in TV series and judging shows, they have also tried their hand at hosting shows. Their onscreen popularity translates into instant buzz and business.

It has become a recent trend in Bollywood for many A-list actors to appear on the small screen. These stars are being seen more on reality and performance shows than on TV serials. Their visibility on these shows enhances profits and viewership for channels and the stars in turn reach out to a bigger audience.

Salman Khan who has hosted quite a few editions of Bigg Boss hosted the seventh edition of Bigg Boss too. It became a major hit in India and raked up many controversies that made headlines.

To Salman, a TV show gives a chance for the audience to see the actors in a completely different light, a far cry from their characters in Bollywood movies. "For any actor, the real heroes are his fans. So, by doing a TV show, my audiences get to see the real Salman. Isn't this (TV) a better reward for me?" he said. Sana Khan, one of the contestants in Bigg Boss 6, bagged a major role in Salman's upcoming movie Jai Ho. Her spat with a rival contestant won Salman's heart. When Salman was looking for an innocent yet aggressive character in Jai Ho he felt that Sana would fit the bill.

Amitabh Bachchan hosted the mega game show Kaun Banega Crorepati which went on to create history on the small screen. There were impulsive reactions to the show and it grabbed even more eyeballs when for the first time a female was handed the crorepati title.

Television has become so big that Bollywood's superstar Shah Rukh Khan admits that an actor's success today is not measured merely by box office profits, but his association with a TV show. "Today stardom is not about awards and box office numbers, but about who has a bigger TV show. So I am trying to do something. I have told Punit and the Zee family to look out for something for me," the actor said.

Shah Rukh started his career on the small screen with the show Fauji followed by Circus in 1989. "The TV audience is very big and I also started with TV and I respect the medium a lot. Television is a great platform for every actor and actress. I would love to participate in it whenever given a chance," he added.

Ajit Thakur, business head, Sony Entertainment Television says: "Shows like KBC and Bigg Boss are as big as films. The reach TV gives today is far wider than the film release on a weekend. And the remuneration is also high. All these factors make stars host TV shows."

Bollywood Movie Reviews- Impact On Box Office Revenues

Indian cinema has recently crossed the centenary milestone of 100 years and is considered as the largest filmmaking entity in the world. Though there are many regional cinema industries in every state it is the Bollywood that has garnered the attention of the world as the icon to the Indian cinema. Every year Bollywood produces more than 1000 films but only a few of them actually withstand at the box office while most of the other films just windup in the boxes in less than a weeks’ time. There may be many reasons for the failure of the movies but the producers surely also point out the Bollywood movie reviews as one reason giving out the movie verdict on the first day itself deterring the interests of the audience who would actually want to view the movie.

It is true that most of the critics write reviews from the technical point not sparing any discrepancies in the movies right from the plot to the execution of the film. However, many times audience may not look at the technicalities or the logic in the screen play as long as the movie entertains them worth the money spent on the ticket. This is the reason why many films that have received negative reviews were able to become box office hits while those which were acclaimed by the critics have also ended up as disasters. Moreover, one should also agree that more than the positive review that can enhance the performance of a movie it is the negative review that has a greater impact on the audience subduing their interests to watch the film. This greatly affects the box office revenues without doubt and hence the cry from the film industry on the Bollywood movie reviews.

You can also find a disparity in the critic’s reviews for the same movie that actually confuses the audience to some extent. But one should note that the ultimate fate of the movie is in the hands of the audience rather than the reviews as any movie getting connected with the audience can surely generate revenues to the producers. But in one way the Bollywood movie reviews are quite helping the viewers who are choosy about watching movies to checkout if the movie is worth their time and money. Anyhow hardcore fans of the director, the hero or heroine watch the movie irrespective of the talk and it is those general viewers who wait for the reviews before deciding whether to go for the movie or not.

Bad films can never be saved even with paid reviews nor can good films be stooped down with bad reviews as ultimately it is the audience who decide the fate of the movie. However, it is the responsibility of the Bollywood movie reviews portals to offer a genuine verdict on a movie as it influences the neutral audience who have a say in making a film hit or flop.

Patel agitation: 3 killed in Gujarat violence, Army called in

Ahmedabad: Tension mounted in Gujarat ast hree persons were killed in widespread violence sparked by detention of Hardik Patel who vowed on Wednesday to intensify the agitation for OBC quota for Patel community.

Apprehending more trouble, curfew was clamped in parts of Ahmedabad and other major cities across the state on Wednesday. Apart from Ahmedabad, curfew had been clamped in Surat, Mehsana, Rajkot, Jamnagnar and Patan cities. Fresh violence broke out during the day-long bandh called by the Patel outfit demanding OBC quota for the community in Gujarat, a day after the mega rally here.

In a televised address in Gujrati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for calm and emphasised that all issues can be resolved through talks. "In the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, the way violence has been resorted to as a tool...I appeal to all brothers and sisters of Gujarat that they should not resort to violence. The only 'Mantra' must be 'Shanti' (peace)," said Modi, who has been Chief Minister of the state for 12 years.

About 5,000 paramilitary personnel were today rushed to Gujarat in the wake of violence. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel this morning and assured her of full central help to tackle the situation.

Hardik blamed police for the violence and said the agitation will intensify in the coming days. Rejecting suggestions that the protesters started the violence last night, he accused the police of trying to "disrupt" the "movement" at the behest of the political establishment. "Police have recovered bodies of three persons who were suspected to have been killed in violence spread across the city," police spokesman N D Trivedi said.

According to a senior police official, two persons died in police firing in Vastral area, while body of a man was found in Ghatlodia in the city. "Girish Patel (47) and his son Siddharth Patel (20) were killed in police firing late last night," he said.

"The incident took place when a mob tried to snatch the weapons of police. These two had tried to snatch a rifle of a policemen and during the scuffle it went off causing the casualties," he claimed.

In Ghatlodia, police recovered the body of a man who died due to severe head injury. The deceased is believed to have been beaten up in the clash last night, police said.

Normal life was paralysed as schools, colleges, business establishments including banks and public transport remained closed in most places in view of the bandh call given by 22-year-old Hardik after his brief detention yesterday when he was protesting for quota at the GMDC ground here. Incidents of arson and stone-pelting were reported in many parts of Surat city today, when Patel community members came out in large numbers to "enforce" the bandh.

Widespread violence erupted across the state on Tuesday after Hardik was detained by the city police. He was later let off. City Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha has clamped curfew in nine areas including Nikol, Bapunagar, Ramol, Odhav, Naroda, Narayanpura, Krishnanagar, Ghatlodia and Vadaj after following sporadic incidents of violence. Jha said the situation in areas where curfew has been clamped is under close watch of police.

A mob of around 1,000 people burnt two warehouses of Surat Municipal Corporation in Udhna area of the city. Bikes, buses and vehicles were torched at many places in the city, Surat control room police officials said. The diamond and textile industries of Surat remained closed. Centre has rushed about 5,000 personnel of Rapid Action Force, CRPF and BSF to assist the local administration in maintaining law and order. "Extra state reserve police force (SRP) companies have been deployed in the city to bring the situation under control, while we have also sought deployment of central forces. They will be deployed as and when their companies arrive here," Surat Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said.

A Police Sub-Inspector, identified as Mitesh Salunke, was severely injured, when a mob pelted stones in Lalgate area of the city during the violence last night. In Saurashtra region, there was total bandh in major cities and towns of Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Porbandar. Incidents of sporadic violence were reported in all the four districts during the bandh today, police said. Rajkot Superintendent of Police (Rural) Gagandeep Gambhir was injured in stone-throwing near Upleta road area, a police official said. In Ahmedabad, schools, colleges, city bus service, business establishments including banks remained closed on Wednesday. Most of the roads of the city wore a deserted look after last night's violence.

Bandh was observed in most of the cities in North Gujarat, while in Central Gujarat, including Vadodara, the bandh call evoked a mixed response. The bandh got a mixed response in Anand town too. Police said members of Patel community indulged in arson and stone-pelting and vandalised public property last night after the detention of Hardik. More than 50 incidents of violence were reported from Ahmedabad city where buses, police posts and private vehicles were set on fire while police personnel were also attacked at some places. The violence also spread to other parts of the state like Mehsana, Rajkot and Surat. Similar incidents were also reported from remote areas of Saurashtra region.

Meanwhile, apart from Ahmedabad, Surat and Mehsana, curfew has also been clamped in Rajkot, Jamnagar and Patan districts. "Curfew has been imposed in Rajkot city to check the spread of violence," a notification issued by Rajkot Police Commissioner Mohan Jha said.

Rampaging mobs last night damaged bus stations, set afire vehicles and also attacked offices of Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mohan Kundaria in Rajkot. Patan district SP Ashwin Chauhan said that they have imposed curfew in Patan town as it was becoming difficult to control the rioters. Curfew has also been imposed in Jamnagar city. "We had to impose curfew as the situation was getting out of hand," Jamnagar district SP Pradeep Sejul said.

Watch Free Movies Online

One of the most searched terms is "watch free movies online". This indicates that many people are searching for a way to watch their favorite movies without having to pay for expensive monthly cable subscriptions.

Although it is understandable, given the ridiculously expensive cable and satellite fees, it can not be justified in the light of the indirect costs that come with it.

There are websites on the Internet that offer the opportunity to watch movies online for free. The truth is that there is a huge cost that comes with using those sites.

For one, it is illegal. And those sites are violating the law by publishing those movies on their sites. And if you pay close attention those copies are pirated. It is more clear in case of newly released movies. You will find that the copy they are displaying is taped by a camera in a movie theatre!

By using those sites you are supporting an illegal activity.

They don't make money straight from you as a user, but they place ads from shady ads networks who allow any kind of ads.

Some are also running scams on their sites.

For instance, one of the sites was allowing a few loads before a script on the site takes control of your screen and gives you a message that your computer has been identified for illegal display and distribution of copyrighted material and that the police is on the way to arrest you and seize the computer, which is now frozen on the act you were doing (the illegal one they mentioned earlier).

After you try to get out of the site or do anything just to find out that your computer is not responding you start to believe them. The next message will ask you to pay the fine, usually hundreds of dollars, if you want to gain control back on your computer.

The software gives you the opportunity to pay online and of course some people respond and pay them. And when they mention it to their friends they discover that they have been scammed.

Some of the sites that offer you to watch free movies online use a script to collect your sensitive information, including any credit card you have used on that computer to pay your bills, and unless your credit card companies get your back on the fraudulent transactions you will find yourself in deep troubles.

The other way those sites might get you in trouble is by really finding yourself facing legal charges.

The famous example that took the Internet by storm a few years ago was when a woman illegally downloaded 24 copyrighted songs. Her sentence was $4 millions in fines!

That kind of sentence could financially break any middle class family.

Do you think it's worth it?

After you go through all of the above horrors and compare those with a small fee of $3.99/month you will definitely understand why it is not worth it to try to watch free movies online.
